The Creative Career Choice
It was never an intention at Travelling Money to discuss, exclusively how to make money from the internet. While this is the most obvious method of generating a portable income, what becomes truly empowering, in any situation, not just making money is when the process becomes totally creative. Creative in thought and in motion, so to speak. It is then a true extension of who you are.
Inspired partly by the article Five Characteristics of the Successful Entrepreneur by Maria I became aware of something fundamental and, I believe necessary about business and career dealings that also apply to all aspects of life: Interaction. Living a life of freedom creating travelling money cannot be regarded as freedom unless you are interacting; providing value to people or the world in general. It is for this reason that I want to include something both uniquely creative and potentially, highly interactive as a way of generating an income from anywhere.
Take my particular field: Music Production & Sound Recording.
Now, we can all agree that making music is highly creative, but maybe it is not so obvious that it is very easy now for this process to be mobile. Very mobile indeed. Location sound recording, music production, voiceover recording. The list goes on. I personally have a professional recording studio that fits in a backpack although now you can carry out professional location sound recording with a device little bigger than an iPod. This enables me to be a producer with all my tools at my disposal anywhere on the planet. This is amazing! I can be in the flow engaging with my passion and the results of my creative action has the potential to earn money and lots of it. The internet is a great ally to have as it enables me to send the finished product to clients, but it doesn't mean I have to look to the internet itself to make me money. I can and do keep the line of communication with clients and prospects by telephone (or Skype, of course), so I can effectively create an online business, but there is so much more scope to it than that. I can work with local people in the area that I am in at that time. I can write and record songs and I can create soundscapes, sound effects and record sound for film in conjuction with a film crew that I could easily meet up with on my travels. Travelling is the best way to network if you didn't already know! All of the products of these processes then have a value because they can be sold in physical or downloadable formats or they can provide a residual income in the form of repeated royalties in the case of having a production credit on a recording or having a composition being used in the media.
So now you see that travelling money doesn't have to be an online business. It doesn't have to be a blog or network marketing. It can be whatever you want it to be. Of course if you have no skills in the area of music production you will most likely have realised that this outlook can be applied to anything: Photography, movie making, even handicrafts. If you can adapt to your environment and create something unique to that then you can be sure of always having a unique selling point. Your talents are unique. That is what is so beautiful about it and the reason why travelling money is potentially the easiest money that you can create.
